First Post: Intro

Testing, testing, 1,2,3.....Hello, everyone! My name is Abby and I am a graduate student at Johnson & Wales University studying special education. I am starting this mini-blog on cultural diversity because it has always been a topic of interest to me. I believe the topic is near and dear to me because I have a unique and diverse background. I grew up with an American father and a Colombian mother. Spanish was a spoken language in my home. I am the first person from my mother's family to go to public school in the United States. My socioeconomic status was never low, but it always seemed like I was living my life differently. Different isn't something to be afraid or ashamed of; it's just being unique. I enjoy discussing topics about cultural diversity, inside and outside of education, and would like to share the information, thoughts, etc. here.
